Nike Design Intern Showcase.

So my summer experience at nike has come to an end. I can easily say it was one of the greatest experiences I have had. I learned so much from the people I worked with and I will continue to apply it to my life and my design. All of the people I met were wonderful, and all of them had a different story to share. I loved being around that.

So during our last week the design interns had an open house show of all of the work we completed over the summer. So here is a little something from that showcase of what I am allowed to show. I created a standing board that represented the meeting of Me and Nike for the first time. The board worked exactly as planned. It contained removable pieces that became thank you memorabilia to all the people that were a part of my experience at Nike HQ. I am so grateful for this experience... I will see you again Portland Oregon.

Surrounded by Greatness.

Today I was shown the portfolio of Chris Badon one of my coworkers here at Nike inc. He had a book full of his previous label work at Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister. I got some great insights from him about finishing details on wovens and denim. I also had a peek at an engineer turned graphic designers early work at Hurley and his personal sketchbooks. Hignyi Khong a sketchy master. I envy this guys drawing skills. Finally I viewed a fellow intern, Esther Chang's portfolio and was literally blown away. Such talent, such understanding of the grid and typography. And then I realized.... I was surrounded by some of the best artists and designers in the country.

Time of Our Lives.

I have had some eye opening experiences being here at Nike during the summer, and I have
met some great people. There is nothing like some fresh pacific air and this will be a great
part of my editions.

Oldie.

So I pulled this image that I did a long time ago as a reference for some current work I am doing at Nike. I did this photo manipulation in Hoa Wang's Vector/Raster class at SCAD in 2010. I was pretty proud of the final product. We had to manipulate two photos together and make a surreal scene using chosen words as themes.

Oregon so far.

So things up here at Nike in Oregon have been going wonderfully. Getting down with the business of designing Tees on a different level will take some getting use to. I have some pretty big assignments that I am really going to be happy about when they come full circle. I really think I am making an impression.

On the flipside I have met some of the best people and have been sharing some good times with them over these past weekends. Including a trip to the river for a 21st birthday featuring some amazing food and fun, a camping trip in some of the most beautiful scenery I have seen in a while, and watching fireworks in another state from a rooftop downtown. Unreal

Here are some photos.

Free Time Freelance.

Pitched an idea for an Australian wine label today at around 6am, during my normal screwed up sleep schedule.

What is needed is a modern label with subtle details that allow the label to be unique. But must appeal to a chinese market. This idea is very different. It communicates clearly, with mass appeal. And very subtly references vertical chinese banners.

First Nike Weekend Out.

So week one at nike couldn't have gone any better. Thursday night I met some essential people in getting me started helping with action sports graphic tees.

Friday we gathered all of our interns and went out for a good time, the girls looked good... and it was a good night. I caught the last of Taking Back Sundays amazing set after they invited me to come see their 2011 tour. And then I got a glimpse of Alabama in the Dixie bar downtown.

And to top it all off tonight I went to a free Portland Timbers soccer game that got super intense. Every time they scored a goal a lumberjack came out and cut a piece off of a giant log. It was exciting... not to mention we were placed in an exclusive nike section with free food and drinks.

I am living a dream.

So this amazing quarter at SCAD is coming to an end. I have learned tons this season about identities and production I cant wait to learn more and see what is in store for me this next edition of my year!

I paid a visit to the Nike store to see what apparel has come before me, before I have a chance to get my hands on it. I am extremely excited about my internship at Nike HQ in oregon. And excited about the fellow interns I have and will encounter. Its been a good start to the year, and it can only get better.
